About Margaret Hammond Carr
Margaret (Peggy) Carr is a Professor in the University of Florida’s Department of Landscape Architecture and Associate Dean of the College of Design, Construction and Planning. She joined the UF faculty in 1989 after twelve years of landscape architecture practice including six years in public practice with the park programs of North Carolina, Florida and Costa Rica; and six years in private practice with the Florida-based multi-disciplinary firm of Post, Buckley, Schuh & Jernigan.
Professor Carr’s primary area of research interest is the relationship between land use change and regional conservation strategies. In the last ten years she has served as the principal investigator overseeing over $2 million in funded research. Funding entities have included the U.S. Agency for International Development, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Florida Department of Environmental Protection, St. Johns River Water Management District, 1000 Friends of Florida, and the Florida Trail Association.
Professor Carr graduated from the University of Florida in 1975 with a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture. In 1983, she received a Masters of Landscape Architecture from North Carolina State University.
