About William E. Pine, III
Dr. Pine is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences at the University of Florida. His research program focuses on factors that structure fish communities, primarily in river and estuarine systems. Wiliam Pine received his BS in Fisheries Management from Auburn University, an MS in Fisheries Biology from the University of Florida, and a PhD in Zoology from North Carolina State University. He was a post-doctoral fellow at Mote Marine Laboratory under the supervision of Dr. Carl Walters, University of British Columbia. His research is primarily in large river systems in both the eastern and southwestern US. Dr. Pine’s current research primarily focuses on trophic dynamics of riverine food webs in Florida spring-fed coastal rivers, utilization of floodplain habitats by riverine fish species in the Apalachicola River, population assessment of Gulf sturgeon, and examining humpback chub population responses to the Glen Canyon Dam Adaptive Management program in Grand Canyon, Arizona.
